Cross Platform Compatibility (Mac - Windows)

Hi,

I am Mac Scrivener user and have to say its made me 100x more efficient in my writing. Unfortunately I do not have the money to invest in a Macbook just yet to compliment my iMac, however I do have a Windows 7 based laptop.

I have read around the FAQ and would like to confirm that I should be able to take a Mac created scriv file and load it up directly into the Windows version of the software without alteration etc. Is this correct? I simply put the Mac created scriv on a USB stick for example and it should load without issue in the PC version?

Are the omissions from the file according to the FAQ still the same or has this changed?

Any help you can give me will be appreciated. I just want to make sure that this will work before purchasing a PC license.

Oh, a little cheeky, is there a discount for having more than one different license on different platforms? If not then you might want to think about it for the future as I am sure there are many others out there using different machines.

Regards
Simon

You can always experiment for 30 days before buying a license, so no need to go in blind. The FAQ is still accurate as far as I can tell; I’ve been loading my projects via Drop Box between my Mac and a Windows computer, only losing access (while on the Windows version) to Project notes beyond the first one, and losing the default sub-document type settings on folders because the Windows version doesn’t support that feature (or document templates, period).

Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated.

I am only just scratching the surface of Scrivener, so those features are not necessary across both platforms.

I forgot about the trial period if I am being honest. Will download it for Windows and will give it a try.
