Custom compile - Scrivener crashes

I am using Scrivener 3 in Windows 10.

I want to be able to compile my text preserving the Heading 1, Heading 2 styles when it is opened in Word. I created a new “Project Format” but when I attempt to compile Scrivener crashes and when re-opened the saved style is missing.

  1. Why is Scrivener crashing at the compile stage?
  2. How do I export (compile) so that the Heading 1 is recognised as “Heading 1” as a Word style. Instructions for setting this up would be helpful.
