Default New Document Subtype, Templates, and Created Date

Using latest Scrivener (2.2) on Mac OS X 10.7.2.

  1. Create a Template
  2. In a folder F, set the Default New Document Sub-Type to this Template
  3. Create a document D in the folder F.
  4. The Created Date of document D uses the date the Template was created, not the current date/time.

This seems like a bug to me, or is it intentional?

A bit of both. Creating documents from templates is really the same as creating a duplicate. “Duplicate” follows the Finder behaviour when creating a copy of the file, and leaves the created date intact. However, you have a good point that in the case of creating a document from a template, to the end-user this is really creating a new document, so the created date ought to reflect this. I’ve therefore added this to my list to fix.

Thank you.
