I’ve just noticed this in the last two weeks or so, not before. When I paste into Scrivener from Scrivener itself, or other apps, there is up to a 3 second delay before the pasted text appears. I’m noticing it everywhere—adding card descriptions, in card notes, and updating custom metadata, and actually drafting.
I double-checked and Scrivener is up to date. I am running Tahoe 26.
I’m not seeing any other threads on this, but I am curious if I’m the only one struggling with it. Happy to provide any other helpful info.
Also, when was the last time you did a full reboot, and checked to make sure all of your software is up to date (and particularly anything that might be involved in this process, like BetterTouchTool or a fancy clipboard manager)?
I looked and I do have Apple Intelligence enabled. I’d gladly turn it off for Scrivener if that’s possible, but I don’t want to completely eliminate it for Scrivener’s sake. I don’t use Grammerly, ProWriting Aid, or any other app I can think of that’s constantly watching my text.
According to Finder, my project is 11.1 MB.
I’ve tested with pasting a single word, and it’s still a multi-second delay.
(To Amber’s questions) I did do a full reboot this morning and checked all my software for updates. I do use Alfred to remember clipboard history, but I’ve had Alfred for a year+ and did not previously have this issue in Scrivener. Pasting in literally every single other app I have is instant. This issue is sudden, and just Scrivener.
I’ve only seen that when pasting across devices (copy on iPhone, paste on Mac etc). Outside of that, this is definitely not normal & Apple Intelligence should not impact that at all. Hmm.
If you temporarily disable Apple Intelligence, does that help? I’ve definitely seen cases where it impacted performance, though not usually this severely.
I have seen this in Scrivener and both versions of Apple Pages. I use Pastebot, but Spotlight is also filling that role. I suspect Tahoe, well, generally.
