First of all, THANK YOU for all of your hard work on this wonderful software!
I saw a 2008 post that touched on this topic a bit, but it was mostly people who wanted to have several different color labels on the same card.
What I would love is to be able to assign different colors to each status.
When working on a story, I have come to find the Corkboard extremely useful for taking a step back and seeing what scenes/chapters are done and which need more work by looking at the status stamps on the cards. What would make it even better would be to have the ability to make a “To Do” status Red (for example), an “Incomplete” status Grey, and perhaps have varying shades of Green for the different stages of completed drafts.
This would let me know at a glance where the story’s progress stands, and allow the critical unfinished spots to stick out like a sore thumb.
There is already a meta-data type which uses colour, what are you using the Label for? There is nothing that says “Label” has to be that. You can even change the name of it to “Status” in the project meta-data settings, and use it as status and change the “stamp” style meta-data to something that requires less visibility. But since there is already a colour type meta-data, it would be a little awkward to have two of them. That gets used all around in the interface, so you can tint the “paper” of the card with the colour, the icons throughout the interface, etc. If there were two of them like that, you’d have to choose which does what and that gets kind of complicated.
Yeah, that sounds useful for the labels, I’m not sure what the hypothetical status colour would tint in that case. Have you tried turning on status stamps in the View/Corkboard Options menu? It’s not bright red or anything, but you can definitely see the status overview—I would say especially so if you use something visually distinctive. “!!!” as a type of status for something that really needs your attention, when stamped across an index card does get your attention.
