I’ve searched and searched, and am unable to find it anywhere. In every other writing package that I have used (including Latex, Word, OpenOffice, etc) one is able to define a “chapter-break” (or “section-break” in the case of Word) and have a different header/footer applied to the first page of the next chapter.
Is this even possible in the Windows version? Is it possible in any version? If not, could we get it at some point please?
Currently, all I can find is a suppression for the header/footer on the first page of the entire document, which would correspond to the Title Page, but what about the Chapter Title Page?
These are options that we’ll be adding in the future, yes (probably not a point release though, as they are rather extensive). It’s good to note that in general Scrivener isn’t really meant to be comparable to any of the systems and programs you listed. It’s more for the much longer writing/research phase, where stuff like page headers really do not matter in the least. Seeing as how we havn’t jammed all of Word, InDesign, LaTeX and OpenOffice into the Compile dialogue box, that is only to be expected. But, if something is relatively easy to provide, we do make an effort to do so—and this will be one of those things. We have quite a bit planned for header/footer control in the future, such as recto/verso alternations, broader support for front matter (where switching from Roman numerals to Arabic is common) and better logic for situations like this, where a page break should suppress headers.
