Display Inspector / Toolbar problems

Can anyone tell me what I’ve done?

I seem unable to scroll to the top of the Inspector (to see the icons). This is the same regardless of whether I’m in full screen mode or not. [I’ve tried adjusting a few things but have seemed to make it worse]

In this screenshot you’ll see how “Compare” and “Roll back” are partly hidden -I can’t adjust this to correctly see anything at the top of any view mode

Hello Sarah,

I’d like you to try resetting the UI preferences on your project and let me know whether or not that makes any difference. Here are the steps.

  • Find your project on your hard drive.

  • CTRL+Click (Right+Click) on the project and select “Show Package Contents.”

  • Navigate into the “Settings” subfolder and delete the file called “ui.plist”

  • Try re-opening the project.

Let me know what happens. I’d also like to know if you have the Mac App Store version of Scrivener or the direct-sale version.

 that totally fixed my problem. In fact there were several ui.plist files there named (conflict). What did i do to cause that?

Conflict files are caused by cloud-syncing services (like Dropbox). Usually they are created when you open a project on a computer while it is still syncing from another computer, but there are other little hiccups in cloud-syncing that can result in conflict files. The good news is that a duplicate UI.PLIST file should be entirely harmless. The problem was probably due to some other little glitch in the main UI.PLIST file. You may not have “done” anything to cause this (plist files are written and updated through an Apple provided API, and that service can occasionally be a little twitchy).

If you are cloud-syncing and you haven’t read it already, here is our article on the subject:
