Double Dialogue

I realize that there was a post regarding this about 5 years ago, but I think things have changed a bit in 2.0 and I’m wondering if there’s any hope for the future. This is a relatively common element in screenplays whereby two, or more, characters speak simultaneously. I’m annoyed by having to export to FDX format in order to achieve double, triple, or multi-dialogue lines.

Please, please, please include a simple feature to format dialogue in this manner!

To other screenwriters, what do you think?

Thank you!

There are no plans for anything like this at the moment (regardless of what other screenwriters think  ), sorry. You can use apply the “Preserve Formatting” feature to dialogue, though, and this will cause it to become double dialogue when exported to Final Draft.

Implementing double dialogue would require a custom text system, and we are a small shop without the resources to implement a custom text system at the moment, especially for a single feature.

All the best,
