Dropbox not synching to ipad

I just connected my dropbox to ipad for the first time. I received no errors and when I clicked the synch icon on my ipad, it says it worked. Yet, when I checked the Scrivener folder in Dropbox, it says “This Folder is Empty”.

Please help! I need to upgrade my iPad (that could be the problem?) but want to backup my Scrivner first so I don’t lose any data.
