Easy synchronization other than the Cloud

Easy synchronization other than the Cloud. Via FTP or iTune. Please.

Totally agree! Limiting syncing to iCloud, Dropbox, or other cloud storage just doesn’t make sense. I want to be able to plug my iPad into my computer and have Scrivener on my PC and Scrivener on my iPad sync without a middle man.

A middle man of some sort is always necessary… But you will be able to move files between using iTunes.

Did you ever use MacFamilyTree with MobileFamilyTree (its iOS version)? You can actually sync your mobile device from inside the Mac OS X Application.

DevonThink Pro Office syncs directly via WiFi & Bonjour to its iOS counterparts.

So I guess there are a lot of possibilities outside of DropBox & Co.

Dropbox and iTunes are, to the best of my knowledge, our sole focus for version 1.0, though. Jen will correct me if I am wrong.

As long as iTunes works both ways like in OmniOutliner or Storyist, I’m perfectly happy.

Agreed on this. I won’t use cloud services, I want bonjour synch that automatically happens like Omnifocus. Next best option select synch like DevonThink and a distant third is iTunes sync.

Keith is right, iTunes & Dropbox are the options that will be available in v1.0.

Other possibilities have not been permanently closed out but will have to fight for their place in the post v1.0 development schedule.

It’s worth keeping in mind how small L&L is compared to some of the bigger kids in the playground. We have a very small team involved in the app design, and on a day to day basis it’s just yours truly on developing the app itself… and boy do I wish these pesky days didn’t have a baked in limit of 24 hours!

Does anyone have a timeline patch that could give me some extra hours? I’d be happy with 36hour days or a ten day week… I’m not fussy.

So I’m happy  . Courage!

I don’t undesrstand what’s wrong with iCloud, but I am sure this is because I am not well informed.
What I like of iCloud is that you don’t need to be online in order to read your notes and that they are immediately pushed and stored in your device. I’d like something similar for the iPad version on Scrivener.
So when I am finished writing on my computer at home I can gab the iPad and I know the manuscript will be there, even if I’ll go somewhere Internet-less.

iCloud is only available to apps sold via the Mac App Store. It is therefore not a solution for the vast majority of our users, who either bought Scrivener from us directly, or use the Windows version. Only Mac apps sold via iCloud are allowed to use it. Moreover, Scrivener’s file format and saving system is incompatible with iCloud - only apps that use Versions and Apple’s own autosave code can use iCloud, and Scrivener uses its own autosave code (please see the explanation for why in the sticky thread in the Tech Support forum). There’s nothing wrong with iCloud, it’s just not suitable for Scrivener that this time.

Ops, I didn’t buy it via App Store either… I am a new user, but not that new.
Anyway I am sure that you’ll come up with a good plan so that we can bring our precious manuscript on holidays… Christmas maybe?
