I’m posting on behalf of my collaborator Shirley in China, using Beta 42.
She was in touch today saying that for some reason she was unable to edit her text and asked if I could find out what she might have done.
I checked the project using the Mac version, and also installed Beta 42 on a Dell laptop I happen to have to hand. On both of those I was able to edit the text without problems. Although I am very unfamiliar with Windows (some release of Windows 10) I tried to discover if she might have done anything to lock that editor against changes without success.
Do any of you have any idea what might be the cause? I’ve recommended shutting down, rebooting, running a cleanup program then retrying, or waiting till she has Beta 43 downloaded and installed and then trying again.
Thanks Tiho. That won’t be the problem; the project is saved in a folder she shares with me on Sync—she’s in China so can’t access Dropbox … I know the Sync people say it’s not suitable for Scrivener, but we have had very few conflicts, all for the usual reasons and I was able to open the project and do some editing on both my Mac and on the Windows machine I have here.
She didn’t make it clear if she couldn’t open the project or if it opened, but she couldn’t continue translating. She’s now asleep, I hope, and will install Beta 43 as soon as it has finished downloading—it’s very slow there. It doesn’t seem to be a problem saving her work.
In the meantime, she has shut down, rebooted and run a clean-up program. I’ll keep you and anyone else posted.
