It would be nice to have an easily toggled option that, when you moved forward and back through an editor’s history, would highlight the incoming content in the binder, just like Reveal in Binder does currently. Would make it much easier to recognize the multi’s content.
That would be horrible if it worked exactly like Revesl in Binder because it would cause the binder to scroll around and completely change its state, opening folders you have closed, just because you’ve navigated back a couple of items to check something. However, something much less intrusive than the Reveal in Binder behaviour, something that doesn’t scroll or open anything is planned for this sort of thing in the future. But if you actually want folders to open and the binder to scroll to the item, you’ll always need to use Reveal in Binder.
I see your point. I haven’t really thought through how it actually work. But the idea is a way to more easily orient you to the current multi, when that was loaded via the the editor’s history queue, and thus not the result of the most recent manual selection process.
That’s what I’m thinking (and have in fact implemented for a future version) - an unobtrusive indicator that allows you to see where you are in the binder when switching between editors or navigating through document history, but which doesn’t cause any scrolling or expanding in the binder (so you won’t necessarily see the indicator if the current document is inside a collapsed folder or scrolled offscreen). If you’ve since collapsed the folder or scrolled away, then you’d still use Reveal in Binder. This will have no effect on the manual selection indicator, which definitely shouldn’t be affected by this sort of thing.
