I have a document of around 4000 words that I was adding to. The same document was being shown in both the top and the bottom split so that I could edit the middle and the end of the document without moving up and down all of the time.
I then used the bottom pane (where I was editing the end of the document) to create a new folder and then a new document and change its synopsis. When I returned to my original document in the lower pane I noticed that the last 15 lines or so had disappeared from my original document. I then scrolled down to the document end in the top pane as well and (as expected) the text is missing there as well.
I’m using Windows 7 (fully updated) without any unusual installations or set-ups, and this is the first problem I’ve encountered so far.
OK, it’s happened again but this time without the horizontal split, just in normal editing mode. It’s the same document again - perhaps it’s corrupted in some way?
Paragraph chunks of text are going missing while I’m editing. I’m doing a bit of formatting using Ctrl-B but other than that it’s just straight text.
I’ve discovered that the text isn’t actually missing, it just isn’t showing up. If I hit enter to start on a new line above where my work is missing and then start typing, the original “missing” text shows up again underneath. This has to be done everywhere that a paragraph or a line has disappeared.
I hope that adds a bit more information to the problem. I’m not knowledgeable enough to file a “techie” bug report, but it seemed like a problem worth mentioning.
Hi Elizabeth, is it possible to zip up the .scriv project file or create another with sample text that replicates this problem and email me: lee AT literatureandlatte DOT com as I unable to replicate this problem running same Windows 7?
I had the same (or similar) problem. Original text was imported then edited. When I went to reopen later, I had what I thought were a bunch of hard returns (basically a bunch of lines with nothing there when there should have been). When I went in to backspace out the spaces, it started producing lines of text. They just went invisible, or something.
Hi, I’ve encountered something pretty much exactly the same as this using a purely typed up document.
Wasn’t sure if I should just bump this one or create a new topic. Will give it a bit of time and then make a new topic if I need to.
It seems to happen for me at about 3500 words or so. I can do 3300 without a problem, but if I go over that then when I leave the page and go back it seems to randomly cut out a portion of the last four or five paragraphs.
I can replicate the issue as well. If I copy and paste as per the screenshots below, it will eat some words as soon as I go do a different page. The show invisible trick works to make the stuff show up, however as soon as I go to another page they disappear and turning show invisibles off makes them re-appear. It did permanently eat some words at some point, but I’m not sure how I managed to get it to do that.
I’ve only put in links as the screenshots are big and didn’t want to stuff up the forum. Also ignore my bad writing skills
