Does the end of Microsoft support for WinXP have any impact on Scrivener users who are still using XP? Do you plan that future releases of Scrivener will run on WinXP?
There’s no real impact at the moment. It will depend mainly on when and how the Qt framework Scrivener uses begins deprecating XP support, but it seems likely that XP will die a slow death given that it’s still commonly used in businesses. Presumably with Microsoft dropping support, there will start being a shift to a newer OS version and other software will drop off support, but we expect at least the next major release of Scrivener to run on XP with the latest service packs, just as Scrivener 1.x does. Scrivener 1.x will remain supporting XP SP3 regardless.
