Scrivener crashed after I tried to import an .rtf file created in Word 2010.
I restarted Scrivener, and tried to open the file I was in, and I got a message window that said, “THIS FILE APPEARS TO BE OPEN ON ANOTHER COMPUTER”, and it asked if I wished to continue.
I am on a Samsung NC-10 netbook running Windows 7.

I got a similar message when I tried to open a project from a flash drive that had just been opened from that same flash drive on a different computer. The other laptop was completely closed out of Scrivener before I ejected the flash drive.
Scrivener (on both OS X and Windows) has a marker within the project which it sets on a project when you open it. When you close the project, this marker is cleared. If you got a crash mid-session (or forcefully kill Scrivener) then that marker will not be reset.
The reason it’s suggesting that it might be open on another computer is simply because this marker is set in the project and Scriv is assuming, not unreasonably, that this may indicate that another copy of Scriv is currently accessing this project via a shared drive or some other means.
It is dangerous to open the same project simultaneously in more than one instance of Scrivener, but if you are sure that this is not the case and you don’t have an open copy of Scrivener somewhere else accessing the project then you can just click ‘continue’ which will clear the message and reset the marker.
