Won’t open certain research files. Error Message Out of Memory??? Not sure I understand why based on how I believe it all works (so far). Also, other files open fine…so?? 
This sounds like a Windows error message. As a first step, I’d try rebooting, ensuring you have sufficient drive space and memory available, and reducing the number of programs you have running simultaneously. But if the memory appears to be in order, try looking up the problem on the Microsoft support site for your version of Windows, e.g. this issue for Vista & Win 7: support.microsoft.com/kb/947246
