Everything looks bloated...

The notes should open in Scrivener 3 with the same formatting they had in the previous version; nothing special needs to be done to convert them for use. If you want to change their formatting just for appearances, creating a style with a shortcut for quick application might be helpful.

Thanks for all your kind words! Glad you’re finding the redesign to your tastes and enjoying working with the beta.

I’m afraid this is not happening for me. Here’s a page from a project in 1.9.

And here’s exactly the same page in the beta.

So this is a very substantial difference.

I hope I don’t come across as impatient, Nathan! - this is feedback, about a non-trivial issue. I have invested years of work into projects written in Scrivener, and it’s a llittle alarming to find that they don’t load properly into the beta. I trust the L&L team will find solutions, but how are they to know about the problems if I don’t report them?

Maybe you could give a reference if you’ve found a way to solve this particular problem ?

simeva, what font and font size are the notes in the original 1.9.7 project and in the upgraded version? I just ran a quick test with Arial Narrow 11 and it upgraded as expected. Do you have a sample project you could share that demonstrates the change?

It’s MS Shell Dlg 2, font size 10, in both versions.

I’ve zipped a sample project (in both versions) and sent a link to the windows.support email address.

It may be relevant to mention that my Windows 10 display is scaled to 125 %. Monitor resolution is 1920x1080.

btw, this sample project also demonstrates the script formats bug reported here

.

Is there a zoom function implemented or planned that can affect just the document notes? On the Mac version, if I use CMD-> to increase the zoom level (or CMD-< to decrease it) while in a document note, all document notes in the project are zoomed to that degree (I can’t see any indication of zoom percent the way the main editor shows).

I can’t locate where that command would be in the menus, and I can’t figure out a Windows version of the shortcut, but if it exists/will exist, then that solves the issue all at once for a given project.

Thanks for sending the project. As rdale said, I think this is just a zoom difference between the two programs on your machine. Windows hasn’t yet implemented the new style for controlling the zoom in notes, but you can set it currently in the beta by going to File > Options > Editing. There’s a “Default zoom” section about halfway down that pane; choose “Document Notes” from the dropdown on the left, then try setting a lower default zoom. For some technical reasons, Scrivener 1.9.7 uses 135% as the base setting, but 3.0 changes this to display as 100%, mimicking the behaviour of Word and some other apps, so Scrivener now matches better what you’re used to seeing as the “100%” scaling in other programs. My guess is that you’d reduced the document notes zoom in 1.9.7 from 135%, so in 3.0 you’ll want to reduce it from 100%.

Well done, Robert, I think you’ve nailed it. I’ll report back if there are further problems.
