Extending manage layout function.

It would be nice to extend the manage layout function so that it will save colour selections. I find it easier to work with a more subdued layout in the late evening. It takes awhile to go through options to achieve this only to lose the settings when the program is closed.

Which colors are you talking about? Everything set in the Options shouldn’t be reset when you restart the program–really I can’t think of any part of the interface that would be–and you can use the “Manage” button there to save and load preference settings. So you could take your current scheme, save it, then alter the colors and save that as your “night” preference theme. Then just swap them out as you need them.

Thanks for the reply M. I cannot get the manage layout function to save colours selected in options as you have suggested. It will save all the other settings but not screen colours that I have changed in options. I change the editor page to a dark green and text to a pale yellow. When I click on the add button and name this in manage layouts it clearly shows a dark green editor screen, but after reverting to a white screen for daytime use, it will not reload a dark green screen when I try to load the saved settings - it appears to save everything but colour changes. I am on the latest windows version.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. The place to save the colors is in the Options; these are global settings and aren’t saved in the layouts. What you want to do is go to Tools > Options… and then in the lower left of that window you should see a “Manage” button, which will give you the options “Load Preferences” and “Save Preferences”. So you can save your preferences, then adjust the colors and save the preferences again, under a different name, and use the Load option to swap them.

Thank you very much for the information M. Just what I need.
