Extra space after Title when compiling

I have created my own custom compile format with four Section Layouts:

  1. Heading
  2. Text Section with Heading
  3. Text Section
  4. Blog (this is a section layout I created myself)

As you’ll see in the attachment there is extra space added between the section title and the synopsis in the blog layout and I can not figure out why or where it’s being created.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure this space actually makes it to the final compiled document? I don’t know if the preview samples are supposed to be pixel-accurate… You can share your format and we can have a look, perhaps?

Unfortunately, yes it does. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to get rid of the extra spacing.

Somebody else had a similar problem a couple of days ago — the solution was that they had somehow ended up with too big a setting in Paragraph Spacing Before and After.

Right click on your compile format and choose Edit (or duplicate and Edit as required), then in Section Layouts, choose the Section Layout which is causing the problem (Blog ?).

In the dummy text box at the bottom, click in turn on the each of the different elements (eg the dummy Title text, the dummy text itself etc), then in the format bar, on the line-spacing widget and choose ‘Other’. In the previous thread, the problem was caused by the Para before / after settings — worth checking.

Here’s the post itself — perhaps this will help?

I don’t know you but since it’s Valentine’s day I’d happily send you a dozen roses. I never even knew that “Other” was hiding a whole bunch of additional options. This has solved my problem.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

That’s great — I accept your virtual roses with pleasure…

Glad it helped!
