Fast key for Dictionary/ Thesaurus?

I don’t know about everyone else, but I use the thesaurus a lot on Scrivener. Life would be a lot easier if I could just highlight/ click a word then press a fast key to activate the function. It gets rather tedious having to right-click then scroll through the options when editing a lot of words.

Shift-Cmd-D or three-finger tap on the trackpad?

OP, FYI, Jennifer’s advice apples to all Cocoa-based OS X apps.

I’ll second this suggestion. I used Macro Express to create a macro that will do this, and I use it all the time.

The OP is using the Mac version, which accesses the OS dictionary and thesaurus tool. Windows does not have either, so I’m not sure what you’re asking for here. If you mean the spell check, there is already a keyboard shortcut for this. You can change it via the Keyboard tab of Tools > Options.

He’s referring to the Tools/Writing Tools/Look up in Thesaurus.com option.

The idea is to have a non-tedious way to activate that.

As I mentioned, I use macro-express, and have also created a Sculpt Mouse macro that does this. However, for some reason, sometimes Alt-T-W-T doesn’t work, and instead the word I want to look up is replaced with TWT.
