File markers or shortcuts to a central folder to edit

Is it possible to Edit Scrivenings by marker numbers (selected files/scrivenings ordered by number) or chapter markers, i.e., not sequential order?

I am writing a novel and have organised folders for each of my characters - the narrative switches between each character’s point of view throughout. I would like to be able to arrange any of their files in any order I like, whilst keeping each character’s files contained in their own folder.

Perhaps a numbered marker system would work, which would reference to a folder (edit scrivenings by marker number?) so I don’t have to rearrange my chapters into a sequential order (which would split up my character’s files).

This is important as I want to keep each of my character’s separate narratives discrete (this suits how I work).

Or perhaps it could work by having a shortcut link/alias from a selected file which links to a central folder - add the shortcuts or alias to a centralised folder and put the links in any order you like. If you could edit scrivenings, then this would in essence work exactly the same way as having a central folder that referred to numbered markers.

Is there another way to do this that already exists in scrivener?

If not, then this would be top of my wishlist.

The way I can think of that you can do this is to put a keyword of the MC’s name with each document, then from the Keyword HUD search for that keyword, then select the search results and Edit Scrivenings.

Hey Keith! Thank you for making my wish come true - this is in essence the new “Collections” feature. (shortcuts to a central folder)

I’ll be updating to 2.0 as soon as I get my new mac (as I’m currently running three macs with 1.0 and don’t want to run out of licences)

Fantastic, can’t wait.

Glad you like it! Yes, the collections feature grew out of several discussions like this one, thanks!
All the best,
Keith
