File title is there, 0 words?

I’m very, very new. I hit the + to create a new file or doc, typed a 100 word or so paragraph. While trying to scroll up to the beginning, the frame for the doc was blue, then my paragraph disappeared though the title came up on the search. I didn’t think anything “disappeared” from Scrivener- especially baffling.

I’d like to be able to recover the paragraph or, at least, prevent thgis from happening again. My confidence and desire to keep the program is starting to evaporate…help!

Hi Marie1, welcome to the forum.

Try hitting ctrl+Z a couple times. Keeping an eye on where your text should be.
Stop when it reappears.

If you are no longer in your document (look in the title bar), click this left arrow instead:

I’ll try it - thanks for your speedy reply!

Hi:

I accidentallt clicked on New Collections and it popped up! Then I tried to copy it in order to paste it into another folder, but the whole block of test moved so I couldn’t highlight it…

Uncheck this from the menu:

If the binder doesn’t reappear and you rather get a colored background, close that using the “X” at the top left.

Your document should then reappear, where it always was, in the binder.

If you haven’t already, I’d recommend taking a look at our Interactive Tutorial, available from the Help menu. It’s a good overview of fundamental operations like this.
