Same problem here. I have to reboot 2-3 times to Scrivener to open,… and I am not tech savvy enough to figure out any other resolutions.
Again, does booting in Safe Mode help?

I haven’t been able to figure out which of my startup items gets in the way of Scrivener loading. BUT, when I load with nothing (and not in Safe Mode), Scrivener launches fine. If I then proceed to open my regular programs, it fails, with a slightly different error message.

After that, I had a successful boot into safe mode, rebooted into normal, and it loaded just fine.

This just has Xcode manage all the code signing automatically with no custom settings (seeing as the crash mentions code-signing). As I say, I doubt it will make a difference, but it’s the only thing I can think to try at the moment (based on other developers reporting a similar bug reported to them by users).

I downloaded, and it ran successfully from Downloads. Opened the Tutorial, successfully, registered, and thought “success!” So I closed it, deleted the other copy from Applications, and dragged in the new one. Tried to reopen, error generated.

What’s interesting in this new crash log is that the file path is wrong. If you look at earlier crash logs, the app file path is:

macOS has a new security feature (which I actually think is really annoying) whereby, when you run an app downloaded from the internet, it gets secretly copied to a private location and run from there. It looks like this is happening to the new version, even though it shouldn’t after you have moved, so I wonder if that is a factor now.
First, could you please try this:

Open Terminal.
-
Type:
spctl -a -v “/Applications/Scrivener.app”
- Hit enter.
It’s very interesting that it ran fine before you moved it, though. Could you please try the following?
-
Drag Scrivener out of your Applications folder into another folder, e.g. a subfolder of your ~/Documents folder. Does it run now?

If it did, try dragging it back to Applications. What about now?
-
Download the build I linked in my previous build again. Does it launch when you run it from the Downloads folder again? (Although in fact macOS will copy it to a private location to run it in this case, as I say.)

If it works, move it from the Downloads folder to another folder (but not the Applications folder), e.g. a subfolder of the ~/Documents folder. Does it still run (if it ran before)?

Now try dragging it to the Applications folder. Does it run?

How about moving trial version to app store like Acorn?
What exactly are your Gatekeeper settings? What happens if you set them to be able to open any app, not just trusted developers? (This shouldn’t be necessary of course, but I’d be interested in the results.)
The trial version is the full version if you input your license code. Moving it to the App store would things more difficult, not easier. The App store imposes limitations that many of us do not want to deal with.
Actually, I jut realised Gatekeeper no longer shows the “anywhere” option. You can only get to it via the command line:

If you download and run Scapple, does that have the same problem? And what about Scrivener 2.9 (downloading and running afresh)?
As for a trial version on the App Store, the only way to do that is to turn the purchase process into an in-app purchase, which I’d rather not do. Having the trial version on our site is much better. The solution is to work out what this problem is rather than to move the trial to the App Store.

I don’t expect either will make a difference, but I’ve changed some code-signing settings as an experiment.
Although the article refers to a user changing home folder permissions as a cause of specific and really odd faults, software can change them as well. The procedure on how to reset permissions from Apple:
support.apple.com/en-us/HT203538
It’d be worthwhile to try (read and follow the instructions completely). I’ve not read of anyone experiencing a downside caused by the procedure but as you should always, have proper backups.
Edit: I saw KB’s post after posting. Keep working with him. I didn’t intend to interrupt that discussion.
No-profile app works!
OK, ran the older zip file from Downloads after the terminal command. I’m going to start putting my error messages in quotes for easier reading.
Tried the no-JRE-signing from Downloads/Scr3-2Tests. It won’t start up, but it doesn’t generate an error message either… Actually, a few minutes later, I see the option has popped to open “an application downloaded from the Internet.” Clicked yes, waiting… still no app, and no process called Scrivener in Activity Monitor.
No Profile popped up the “downloaded from teh internet” immediately, and opens successfully. I opened the Tutorial, clicked around a bit, closed the app. Reopened, and it asks for updates, opens the tutorial right back up 
I’m going to try a reboot.
