Hi, I’m a new user. I imported a first draft from Word successfully but my indents on the import stayed the same. How can I get Scrivener to fix my formatting problems on the imported text so that it fits the expected submission parameters (including indent)? I used Tab for the original indents…sorry. I won’t do it any more, I promise.
In Notepad, or a word processor, tap the TAB key, then select that tab character and copy it (CTRL-C).
In the project where you want to strip out Tabs, go to the menu [Edit->Find->Project Replace].
Paste in (CTRL-V) the tab character in the “Replace” section. It should appear as a little arrow pointing right.
Leave the “With” field emtpy. Case and Whole words options don’t matter. Decide on the “scope” of the replace; you probably want to disable everything but “Text”.
Click the Replace key, and away you go.
If you’ve done any other work in Scrivener, other than the initial import, then I’d use the menu [File->Back up->Back Up Now] to be sure you have a good copy prior to doing the search-and-replace… it’s not reversible, so always use caution with this function.
Fixed it, thanks!
