Folder with new binder icons collection?

I know I can add new icons to the binder icons collection.

But can I also add a new folder with binder icons to the binder icons collection?

If not, can I implement them in the application itself? If yes, where to go to after right-clicking ‘show contents’?

Thank you,
Max

Bump…

I’m not exactly sure what it is your are going for here. What is the “binder icons collection”, specifically, in terms of the user interface as it self-describes. Are you referring to custom icons, as set in the Documents/Change Icon/Manage Icons... utility?

What does it mean to add a folder with binder icons? Where are you right-clicking and choosing “Show contents”? I’m not familiar with that contextual menu command. Is this from Finder?

Hi AmberV,

With ‘binder icon’ I meant an icon you can give a folder or document, i.e. ‘light bulb’, ‘warning’ etc.
With ‘binder icons collection’ I meant the full collection of those icons.

One can add icons to that binder icons collection by ‘manage icons…’
Instead, I want to add a new folder with a (new) collection of icons, just like ‘Books’, Characters’ ‘Flags’ etc. are incorporated already as icon collections.

Next, if you right-click the application (in the Finder), you will see ‘show contents’ and will be able to have a look inside Scrivener. I wanted to know whether I might be able to add a binder icons collection there. If so, how to proceed?

I meanwhile found out how to do it as I found the icon folders within the application.
Path: /Applications/Scrivener.app/Contents/Resources/Default Support Folder/Icons

Suppose you want a set of icons of cars, you start adding, for example, a (16x16) icon: ‘cars (car red)’. Next a new icon, ‘cars (car blue)’. By adding this second one, automatically a collection-folder is made.

Btw, you can also do this through the normal interface, i.e. ‘manage icons…’, though adding larger collections can be a pain this way. Imho one can better prepare icon-sets beforehand (using NameMangler for quick renaming) and paste them in afterwards.

Due to the (brilliant) way Scrivener is programmed, you do not even have to restart Scrivener to get these icons new into effect. Also renaming them in the finder will be picked up immediately!

Ah yes, these are referred to as “Custom Icons” in the documentation. The ability to make sets of icons group together into a sub-menu is documented in §8.5.2 (pg. 89), but it sounds like you already know all there is to know on the topic. Sorry for the confusion.

Sh*t, it’s even in the manual! How could this not be…
Anyway, problem solved and even a happier user!

Thanks,
Max
