folders for icons

I love this program. I love how I can assign icons to every chapter and every scene and see what’s finished, what needs work, and what’s a train wreck with the merest glance at the binder. I love how scrivener will make almost any image into an icon instantly. (my horse research folder is a little horse silhouette. Just sayin’.)

As you may be able to guess, I have a very large collection of icons. It would be nice if I could make my own stacks or folders in the icon menu (like how the different colored waypoint flags are all stacked together) I know I can make similar things appear next to each other in the list using the fact that the list is alphabetical, but that doesn’t stop my list from being way too long.

I know this isn’t exactly important but I thought I’d ask.
Thanks

You can do that! It’s just a little naming trick that we use to make those folders. See section 8.5.2 on page 89 of the user manual for tips on how to make your own icon sets.

Wow. I had read that part but didn’t realize the program would actually analyze the titles and stack them. In fact when I first read it I was a little annoyed at the manual for trying to pass off an alphabetized list as a feature.

Well, even though I feel silly (and much happier) now, it would still be easier to handle a large number of icons using a more traditional “drag and drop into folders” icon management system. But I can see why the way it is now would be good enough for most people.
