Footnotes at bottom of page

I’ve tried toggling between inline and inspector footnotes, but all my footnotes are compiled at the end of my [very long] document.

How do I display my footnotes at the bottom of the page in draft mode (i.e. before I hit Compile)?

The difference between inline and inspector footnotes is purely a matter of your own workflow—which you prefer to use. You set up whether they operate as endnotes or footnotes in the Footnotes & Comments compile option pane.

As for in Scrivener, inline and inspector are the only way ways to visualise notes while writing. It is a simple text editing tool, not a full page layout system. You will want to compile to a format that can handle footnotes, like RTF or DOCX, and then open the file in a program that can lay out text on a page.
