Footnotes stop in a single paragraph

I’m unable to add a footnote to any block of text in a particular paragraph.

Footnotes work fine in other paragraphs, but no selected text in this one paragraph won’t fully turn into a footnote when I CTRL-Shift-F – the only thing that happens is that pipe symbols get added.

If I copy the text to another paragraph, the same thing occurs.

Strange, no?

Hmm, I wonder if this paragraph has some formatting gremlins in it. Try cutting it, moving the cursor out of that location, and then pasting back in using Edit/Paste and Match Style. That should strip any formatting out.

That seemed to fix it. Thanks!
