I have lots of footnotes in my manuscript. When I use the search box in the upper right, is there a way to search ONLY within the footnote text?
Also, is there a way to expand all / collapse all footnote entries, rather than having to click on each individual footnote triangle?

If you click in the search bar, it changes slightly so there is an inverted carot next to the magnifying glass. Click on that, and it becomes a dropdown with lots of search options and limits, including Notes.
Edit: And now I see that that is Notes, which does not mean Footnotes.
On the Edit Menu, Find > Find by Format brings up a box that lets you search just Footnotes and Comments, and gives you the option of searching the current document or all documents in the project.
