Format tools palette in full screen mode

I’m aware this might be a little tricky, but since this is a wishlist, I’ll give it a try.

I use a Scrivener a lot to edit and revise other people’s or my own work. The nature of the texts I revise requires me to constantly change text format characteristics, such as changing color, add bullets or numbered paragraphs, changing indents. Some of these I can more or less access from the full screen view without escaping it, such as color palette, tables palette or even list paragraphs (through the main menu, although it’s a little too much effort).

I’ve thought that it would be great if I had some sort of format palette available in fullscreen view; preferably translucent or gray, or some customizable color that wouldn’t be obtrusive to the fullscreen kind-of-zen nature.

I know this may be a lot to ask but, who can stop me from dreaming?

Hi,

Maybe I’ll consider something like this in the future, but certainly not for 2.0 (which I’m in the last stages of). You can view the ruler in full screen, by the way (just hit cmd-R). The full screen ethos is more about composition, though, and it isn’t intended to replicate all of the features of the main window, which is generally better for editing.

All the best,
Keith

Thank you for telling me the ruler can be accessed from the full screen view! I understand that’s not the main purpose of that window, but so you can understand why I ask for it, I’ve found that fullscreen view is much more friendly for my eyes, and I prefer it, even if I have to fill the screen with palettes for formatting functions.

Of course, when I’m writing fiction, I don’t need any of this. But, after having used Scrivener, how can I go back to Word or any other word processor without asking for the same comfort and wonderful feeling of full screen view? I know I can use Nisus Writer in full screen view, but I wouldn’t have access to project management the way Scrivener does…

Well, I’m one of those users who bend Scrivener to do far more than it was designed for.

Thank you for considering the palette for future versions. I’ll be waiting Scrivener 2, since I hope it will be great even without those palettes.
