Formatting not working in Index cards.
By formatting, do you mean applying bold, italic, underline etc to individual words within the text on the front of index cards (which is the same as the synopsis)?
You won’t be able to apply such formatting (either in the current version or the beta), because the index card/synopsis is plain text, not RTF (it’s actually a separate linked .txt document within the project folder). If you need such formatting, then the Notes panel is an RTF file (also separate) which accepts all the formatting that the main document does.
If that’s not what you mean, perhaps you could explain what you’re expecting/experiencing?
