formatting problem - spaces at the beginning of a line

I understand the impulse to make your manuscript look like a finished book, and I respect the excellent advice given here to deal with your problem. But, as was mentioned earlier in the thread, if you are submitting the manuscript to a publishing house they don’t care about your indents. They are going to change your indents and far more than that in your book than you would like to know. :slight_smile:

So, resolve the problem to your satisfaction for the pleasure of doing so but don’t worry about it when you submit your book to the publisher.

I believe the correct German phrase is: hängenden Gedankenstrich ( oder Einzug), hanging indent.

This issue is another reason to have plain text, instead of RTF.
