I don’t want to indent the first paragraph of each new chapter and section of my novel. How do I get rid of the indent of ONLY these first paragraphs? I miss the rulers in Word that allow you to do this so easily! Thanks!

Go to Compile, Formatting pane, then Options and select whan you need under Remove first paragraph indents.
Hope this helps!
If you want rulers then use the Format/Show Ruler menu command (Cmd-R). It’s worth noting however that Scrivener can do this for you, there is usually no need to go around changing rulers like in Word for every single paragraph that follows a break. Instead, go into the Formatting compile option pane, click the Options button in the top-right, then check for the “Remove first paragraph indents” setting:
As with all compile-time settings, you won’t see anything change in the editor, this only happens when you export. The point is to basically not worry about details like this at all while creatively writing.
