Fountain screenplay import questions

Hi, hope someone can help…

If I import a .fountain file, the text is parsed properly in screenplay format, however it isn’t broken into scenes. It’s just a single text file.

If I import the same text, only with a .txt extension, as ‘plain text formatted screenplay’, it is perfectly broken up into scenes, but not presented in screenplay format.

Isn’t there a way to import a .fountain file and have it split correctly into scenes? Seems strange

Yes, for all cases where you want a file split up by some internal structure in that file, the File/Import/Import and Split… menu command is what you want. It will detect your file extension (it expects .fountain) and adjust its options accordingly.
