Hello all. I’ve had four or five instances of my MacBook Pro freezing up since the latest Scriv update 3.3.1 was released. My experience has been a few background programs come to the fore and most functionality ceases. My mouse cursor moves, but doesn’t register clicks. I can still type in Scrivener, but can’t toggle between programs. Though I can open Force Quit.
I’ve downgraded to 3.2.3 to test, but wonder if anyone else has a similar experience so we could get L&L some feedback. I’m also aware MacOS has updated to 13.3.1 more recently (April 7), but I have a memory of my first crash farther back than April 7, a day our family traveled. I know it happened at least once the week prior.
What version of Mac OS do you have? There’ve been several reports of a possible incompatibility with Mac OS Sierra.
Also, are you using Grammarly, Pro Writing Aid, or similar software? There’ve been a few reports of a potential conflict with tools that “watch” your Scrivener activity.
Having background programs come forward suggests a keyboard shortcut conflict. It might help to try narrowing down exactly what you’re doing when it freezes.
Thanks. I thought about this, and some time ago recall my screen freezing up midway between desktops so the images were overlaid. But that only happened once back in 2022. In this case, I don’t recall using any shortcuts when this happened. The other day, I was just typing. Now, it’s possible I hit some keys wrong, so I’ll track that as well.
I have had some issues with cursor moving but not registering clicks since upgrading to Ventura, though not specifically in Scrivener. I wonder if this may be an OS issue.
