I have been using the trial version of scrivner for windows for about 25 days. In the last couple of days I’ve started to get a ‘not responding’ message, with a blue circle scrolling around, and when this is on screen I can’t do anything. I thought it was because I was close to the end of the trial period, so I bought a licence, but this hasn’t cured the problem. It’s slowing me down horribly.
Can anyone help?
Shouldn’t have anything to do with Scrivener being in trial vs. licensed mode.
Some possibilities that come to mind…

Large amounts of text present within an individual document within the project can result in sluggishness/hesitation. Splitting a large document into two or more may help.

Scrivenings mode, in which the contents of multiple documents are presented together in a combined view, can result in sluggishness when one navigates to and clicks on a binder item that contains subordinate items, as Scrivener has to take a bit to open and load all those items. The extreme case of this would be if one is in scrivenings mode and navigates to the Research or Draft folders, both of which tend to contain lots of items. Basic fixes include toggling out of scrivenings mode, avoiding clicking on high level items that include numerous subordinate items unless needed, …
