This is oddly intermittent. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it works fine. In SCRIPT SETTINGS I have Enter/Return set up to go from CHARAC to DIALOGUE. But often on the first tap on ENTER/RETURN it create a new CHARAC line, under the original CHARAC line. If I tap it a second time, then it goes to DIALOGUE.
I go into the FORMAT>SCRIPTWRITING>SCRIPT SETTINGS> HIGHLIGHT CHARACTER> CLICK ON TAB/RETURN.
I’ll see it was set correctly to go from tapping ENTER/RETURN to DIALOGUE. I’ll set it arbitrarily to something else. I’ll then reset ENTER/RETURN to go to DIALOGUE.
Usually that seems to work.
But it is odd, and perplexing. Any ideas why? Or how to permanently fix?
I’ve never seen this and never had anyone else report it, and I can’t reproduce it. Could you please try to see if you can find an instance where you can always reproduce it, and let me know how I can get it to happen?
Now I’m having it with dialogue. Dialogue is set to Tab to Character or Enter to Action. But when I’m hitting Action, it goes to Dialogue instead. If you’d like I’ll just send you the script and you can try the exact line I’m on, if that works for you. Let me know.
If you haven’t significantly modified your script settings and are using one of the stock styles, could you try re-selecting the closest built-in format and see if the problem persists? You might want to do this on a duplicate of the project just in case your settings are different.
