From watching the video tutorials I got the impression that there were standard Front Matter templates for different platforms, but I can’t work out from the User Manual documentation how to import them. When I look in Compile the options don’t come up and if I change the document type to Front Matter I can’t find any way of finding templates or standard settings. Can anyone help me find out how to do this? Thank you.
The novel template comes with some pre-prepared front matter, but other than that you set it up yourself. So, you would just create a folder entitled “Front Matter” (it doesn’t have to be called that, but the option in Compile will list a folder of that name first) and, inside that folder, create subfolders for any different formats you will export to, and create the front matter for each format inside. Try creating a project from the Novel template for an example - the front matter folder in that is just a regular folder with an icon assigned via Documents > Change Icon, and then I’ve added some sample front matter files to each. (That is what is shown in the video tutorial.)
All the best,
Keith
Ahh, thank you Keith. I see now that my error was using the Novel (with Parts) template which doesn’t have this Front Matter automatically part of it, rather than the simple Novel template which does. I guess I’ll try and move my content to the simple Novel template or the Front Matter templates to the Novel (with Parts) that my content is in … I don’t guess you know an easy way to do that?
Hi,
Yes, you can just drag the Front Matter folder from the binder of a project created with the “Novel” template into the binder of your “Novel (with Parts)” project.
Hope that helps.
All the best,
Keith
It helped enormously. Thank you so much
