Future updates for Scrivener in Windows?

Word plus One-Note does not compare in any way to the functionality of Scrivener. Any WP (and especially that expensive bloat called Word) is a bit of a dog when it comes to long-form writing IMHO (and that of many happy Scrivener users).

We get it, you don’t like Scrivener or Keith’s vision of what is and isn’t part of Scrivener, which is your right, but given your overwhelming preference for Word/One Note, not sure why you’re still pushing for additions to Scrivener that apparently you and the one or two you know who moved to Obsidian wouldn’t use anyway, given your stated preference for those other apps.

Well, since you brought it up, I’ll respond that for research, OneNote or Obsidian is far better than Scrivener, and Word handles large documents excellently—you just need to know how to use it. I’ve used many tools, so I have the experience to compare. Why did I write this here? Because I have no prejudices about anything. If Scrivener becomes better, I’ll use it. Stagnation and lack of development always and everywhere lead to the oblivion of even the best ideas…

I’ve used Word since the very first version (and Ami Pro, Word Perfect, Pages, Open Office) and yes, I know how to use them all. None of them have come close to Scrivener for long-from writing and research. In 40+ years in IT I’ve used (and had to work alongside and deal with) more tools than I care to remember.

Is Scrivener perfect, or the right tool for everyone? No, but it’s already ‘better’. The extremely rare demands for more features would suggest most feel that’s the case.

Do you have statistics on how many people use Scrivener now, how many used it before? Why did they stop? No. Do you know the requirements for Scrivener from others? What works for some and what doesn’t? No. You are a victim of the “survivorship bias.” So, there’s no need to speak for others and boast about your IT experience. These are not arguments on the topic.

Scrivener is a tool that does many things well. But, just use the “bug” tag on the forum to understand that it needs improvements and updates.

Therefore, I am very glad that Scrivener is the best product for you, but it is not for me. Let’s leave it at that.

Funny, it hasn’t gone anywhere from Scrivener 3.1.5.1, just like the others. Will I leave you alone? Of course not, otherwise you’ll wither away in your fantasy. )))
