Getting pretty fonts with WINE

There’s some changes in 1.3.33 that change up text display. My settings are:

"FontSmoothing"="3" "FontSmoothingType"=dword:00000003 "FontSmoothingGamma"=dword:00000578 "FontSmoothingOrientation"=dword:0000000

YMMV, of course. But playing with those values helps bigtime. (So does installing corefonts, allfonts, and any other font you want in ~/.$winedir/drive_c/windows/Fonts

Thanks for this tip! What does the gamma value do? My text in Scrivener looks better but it’s very light, and I would like to try to darken it if I could. Would gamma effect that?

For me changing the gamma value didn’t do anything. I changed “FontSmoothingType” to 4 or so (Value given in various tutorials and through winetricks is 2.) That made things look more normal, although the dpi values seem odd. The text is either too big or too small, but that could be my eyesight. :wink: I have the screen resolution for Scrivener set to 100dpi via winecfg.

Not as good as it was pre-1.3.33 though. :frowning: It’s a tad lighter in the screenshot than it is on my screen.
