Header only works on print, not export

When using Compile Manuscript, I find that the header (as defined in the option screens for Compile Manuscript) only appears if I select Print, and never appears if I select Export. This happens no matter what format I export to: RTF, doc, odt, etc.

Is this because these formats don’t accept headers, or am I missing something?
Thanks!

The header gets exported in RTF too (though not other formats), but of course it depends on the program you open it in. If you open it in TextEdit you won’t see the header as TextEdit doesn’t support headers. Open it in Word and you should.
All the best,

Thanks, Keith. I was using TextEdit, and I just loaded it into OpenOffice and you are correct - the header shows. Serves me right for using the default app settings for file types

That gets a few people. In general, RTF is by far the best export format, as although the standard OS X exporters omit quite a lot (images, footnotes, headers and footers etc), because the RTF format is so open and easy to modify, I have been able to extend the OS X exporters for RTF to include most text features. So even for exporting to Word, RTF is best,
All the best,
