Headers based on depth-level of scene

Hello, fellow scriveners!

My current WIP has a structure like this one:

All parts, chapters and scenes start on new pages.

I’d like to define headers like these:

Meaning that, for each scene, the header would reflect which part of the book we’re in, and in which chapter.

I’ve been meddling with <$pageGroupTitle> and <$pageGroupParentTitle> placeholders to no avail. Am I missing something?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm, that’s a bit strange. Those placeholders should normally work, I think…
Would you mind double-checking if the page setup allows enough margin for the header?
I have a feeling you’ve already set that up correctly, but I can’t really think of another reason it might not be working.
Hope it gets sorted out soon!

I think they do work indeed. Maybe they are not what I need. :man_shrugging:

For instance, if I define these headings:

For every scene I get this:

Highlighted in yellow is the scene name, and in green is the chapter name. Seems that what I’m missing is a <$pageGroupGrandParentTitle> placeholder.

Any ideas for a workaround?

Hmm, yes if scenes or sections need to create a page break then I do not think we have a good setup for what you want to do. You would indeed need a third placeholder (although at that point, probably something more like our <$levelN_title> setup, so you can target a specific, static level from the root level down, rather than making an ever increasing number of elderly placeholders).

Thanks, @AmberV. Unfortunately, seems that particular placeholder cannot be used in headings and footers… Right?

Right, I was saying that I think if we added more “levels” to this particular logic it would ultimately make sense to use a model like that for it, rather than continuing to add more grand-grand-grand-placeholders.
