It looks like you may be running into some of the bugs that were discovered and explained in this thread.
Some of them essentially make search and replacement useless, unfortunately.
Any dates for an update that repairs this, maybe?
Unfortunately no, it hasn’t been started on yet from what I can see, sorry for that.
I wound up using Project Replace, and it was indeed daunting, and I am still occasionally finding leftover fallout from glitches. I’m a little confused as to why Project Replace and Find-and-Replace use different PCRE engines in the first place. Perhaps it’s one of those things where whoever touched the code in one place had no idea of similar functionality elsewhere.
It’s hardly basic functionality - it’s hard to even figure out in the documentation what’s supposed to work and what isn’t (and Project Replace really does seem to be the only thing documented to work) - but Find-and-Replace is so very close, it’d be nice to get this addressed.
