Highlighted binder item not matching actual document

Sometimes when I am working on a chapter, the chapter showing on my screen does not match the chapter highlighted to the left in the binder. In this example, I am working on the section called “Plot Brainstorm,” yet over on the left “Cassidy” (a different chapter) is highlighted. This is a newish thing, perhaps since the upgrade.

PS Do not focus on poor prose.

The Binder selection does not follow what I am currently editing.

There are a number of ways to change what you are editing, without
clicking on a document in the Binder. Documents can be dragged into
the header bar; the forward and backward keys could be accessed; or
the Go To feature utilised, and more. In all of these cases, the selection in
the Binder will not change to reflect the document you are now
editing.

While the editor will always (unless Locked) follow your Binder selection, the Binder will not always follow your editor selection. There are good reasons for this. Consider the following scenario: If you have two documents opened in splits, and one of these documents is currently hidden in the Binder, what should happen when you edit these documents? Should parts of the Binder open and close whenever you change splits? This would be very distracting. Should both be selected at once? This would be confusing.

If you do need to locate the file you are currently editing in the
Binder, you can use the Header menu (click once on the document icon),
and select Reveal in Binder (Cmd-Opt-R). This will synchronise your
selection manually, while simultaneously expanding any project
elements necessary to reveal its position.

Thank you. At least now I know it’s a purposeful thing. And I have been using the arrow keys more. Scrivener has a lot of richness to it and I sometimes feel I’m only using a portion of it.
