HIGHLIGHTING SYNOPSIS/INDEX CARD TEXT

Hola,

Is there any way to ‘highlight’ a portion of text within the synopsis/index card?

For example: I often write ‘IMPORTANT’ at the beginning of a sentence to draw attention to it later and would like to change the black font/type to a colour so it stands out.

No, the synopses are all plain text. You can use some Markdown for italics and bold, but that doesn’t show up until compile. I use your method of ALL CAPS when I want something to stand out.

I am a very visual writer which comes from writing and doodling in journals so still trying to get in the Scrivener groove.

Me, too. I’ve been known to copy and paste handwritten journal entries or scanned physical index cards as images onto Scriv index cards. Generally it’s counterproductive as I eventually have to type them in so that they’re searchable, but sometimes needs must…

Speaking of handwritten journals et. al., I’ve used the Noteshelf iOS app to hand-scribble stuff and later convert it to text for pasting into Scriv, usually into the synopses. There are other iOS apps that enable this workflow as well. Right now I’m using this workflow extensively as I plan out a rewrite. Something to consider.

Thanks… it’s not that import from a notebook, more that I like to use elements to do things like underline, bold and add colour to words and phrases within passages. I just like the energy and the sense of immediacy it brings to the page. I was hoping I would be able to carry it forward into the Index Cards where i use it most.

That said, I am really diggin’ Scrivener so no real complaints I can’t deal with.

Richard, have you looked at Curio? It’s a very visual project software that lets you combine elements created in Curio like mind maps, lists and graphic figures with images, videos, audio and outside files.

I use it on every project, and part of the process is embedding my Scrivener file right into the Curio project.

If you’re visually oriented, Curio can really add to the experience of working on your projects.
