Hooked!

I’m doing my first NaNoWriMo this year and I can’t tell you how fortunate I feel that Scrivener has a Windows Beta; I was planning on just writing everything in Open Office Writer, you know, with about a million draft saves and notes. Now that just seems crazy! I’ve only been outlining a few basic things yet and already I’m in love with this program, despite a crash or two (which I recovered from nicely due to the autosave feature)(Oh, the crash had something to do with that ‘populate synopsis’ button above the inspector, but I don’t know why).

My favourite features so far include, naturally, the binder, as well as the corkboard and the outliner. Fullscreen mode is great as well. And just all the little things that make it work smoothly. I can tell this will be an invaluable resource.

All the little things I’ve noticed in the beta seem to have been mentioned here and in the bug forums already, so I have nothing to add on that front. Just an encouragement to keep up the good work! I have a distinct feeling that I will be making a purchase in Jan/Feb.

Thank you!

Hey, good luck with NaNo! This will be my first year, too. My wife is going to attempt it with me. Should be an entertaining month, heh heh.

Absolutely! I have a feeling that my appreciation of this application will only grow as I become more accustomed to it. I don’t know everyone who is involved in the project, but anyone remotely related to the propagation and development has my gratitude.

Wow! That sounds fantastic, I’d love to have a writing buddy in my area, but I seem to be in a vast wilderness when it comes to NaNoWriMo. My parents didn’t know what it was and I never see anyone within 50 miles of my on my regional forums. Ah well. Beauty of the internet

I’ve even decided that I can use Scrivener to take notes in class, with some setup. Probably cautiously at first, I haven’t had any trouble with losing information or corrupted files, but you never know. But as it becomes more stable I think it will be great. The freeform style just molds itself to nearly any application.

Thanks for the feedback.

The crash with the auto synopsis is a bug that is being fixed. If you click this button when you have an empty document in the editor Scrivener will crash everytime;)

Good luck with NaNo
