How can I drag text

I want to be able to select words or a word and drag it to a different place in the sentence or paragraph. I can do this in Word by selecting the text and moving the cursor just outside the selection where it turns to an arrow.
The Scrivener manual (page 385) says “Within an editor context (including across section boundaries in a Scrivenings session) you can drag a selection of text to another location to move it.” But I can find no way to grab the text to drag it.
Am I totally misinterpreting this or can someone fill me in on how this is done?

Thanks,
Jeff

You just use the normal Mac method.

  • Highlight the text by dragging the mouse across it holding the left button, then let go of the button when you’ve finished dragging.
  • click and hold inside the selection with the left button and whilst still holding it down drag the selection to wherever you want it to go.
  • The text cursor will follow the drag, so let the left button go when you reach the spot you want.

HTH.

From Jeff’s description it sounds as if Word has a completely non-standard way of doing things – which wouldn’t surprise me, as it comes from the World of Microsoft. I don’t think I’ve ever come across a Mac program that did it that way.

Thanks all, the obvious is usually what I miss!
