Scrivener does not attempt to compete with InDesign or CorelDraw. It also has a somewhat different emphasis from conventional word processors like Word and WordPerfect.

Every business targets a specific demographic. That demographic could be quite large (“Index the world’s information” – Google) or quite small (“best tacos in north Seattle”), but a business that doesn’t understand what market it’s trying to serve is probably doomed. Scrivener is not trying to serve users who like the Word/WordPerfect way of doing things.
