How do I get a Devonthink ref into Scrivener?

Hi, I’m a noob with Scrivener . . . I am set up using Scrivener for writing, Endnote x5 for citations/bibliography and I use the “reference fom Endnote x4” template for recording the references and quotations I derive from the source material in Endnote.

My Question is this, how do you get that reference information into Scrivener as a footnote? Is there an automated way/script for doing this. Otherwise I don’t see the savings and or simplicity of DT in this situation.

You advice and help are greatly appreciated.

Jeff

Do you just want a link to the devonthink item? If so you can right click on it and copy item link in DTPO and then create a footnote and paste it in…

Please be more specific about what you are trying to do…

Sorry about that, I want to be able to parse the data from the DT entry and insert it as a formatted footnote into my scrivener document at the insertion point.

The source document looks li,ke this;

“For too long, I have taken jobs or career paths that have carried prestige or security or remunerative rewards but have had little if any spirit in them. No one ever told me before that it is essential to my own well-being, as well as that of the world, for me to be doing work that I love and for which I am naturally gifted.

So I would like to be able to transfer this information into a Scrivener foot note.

Jeff

The words “formatted footnote” are ambiguous, but I’m assuming that you mean you want a footnote that conforms to one of the styles used in academic publications (e.g. MLA, APA, or something of the sort). You would not use Devonthink for this. You will need to put temporary citations into the inspector footnote panel in Scrivener and then scan your finished RTF document using EndNote. See my post in answer to your question about footnotes.

Cheers, Martin.

mbbntu is giving you the correct advice.
To reiterate a bit, you want to place in Scrivener a footnote that looks like this:

{Hoberman, 2011 #27} (achieved with Command-C)

After you pass your draft to a word processor, EndNote will convert that note to:

Hoberman, J. An Army of Phantoms: American Movies and the Making of the Cold War. (New York: The New Press, 2011), pp 162-68.

You may also copy that formatting with a Command-K.
