Hi everyone. I have a project that’s… let’s say call ‘Apples and Oranges’ and now I am turning it into a series and the series is ‘Apples’. How do I change the scrivener file name?
If I just use the finder and rename it there, will that corrupt the file? Someone please help.
Nope, that’s exactly the way to do it; just make sure the project isn’t open in Scrivener when you make the change in Finder. So “Apples and Oranges.scriv” can become “ApplesBook1.scriv” or such.
You may also want to check the project title in your metadata settings. In File ▸ Compile..., select the tag icon in the header on the righthand side and see what’s in the “Title” field. By default it uses the project file name, so that will automatically change when you switch the file name, but if you’ve manually set it before you may need to change it to accord with your new plans. (If you change this without actually running compile, be sure to save the change by holding the Opt key and clicking “Save” to close the compile pane.)

Thanks this worked! I was scared it’ll corrupt the file.
